How our content is researched, reviewed and kept separate from anything a contractor pays for.
Independence
Advertising and listing fees never influence verification results, guide content or the order of unpaid listings. Paid placements are labelled Sponsored or Featured wherever they appear.
Sourcing
Guides cite authoritative sources - Virginia DPOR, the State Corporation Commission, DHCD building code resources, NOAA and the National Weather Service, and local permitting offices. We do not publish price figures we have not researched and documented.
Review and updates
Every guide shows a published date and a last-reviewed date. We revisit content when Virginia code, agency processes or market conditions change.
Reviews from consumers
Reviews are moderated before publication. We remove reviews that are abusive, cannot be tied to a real project, or come from a competitor. Contractors may respond publicly. We never write or buy reviews.
Corrections
Every contractor profile carries a correction form, and you can contact us directly. We correct factual errors promptly and note material changes.
