Balanced intake and exhaust

Ventilation works as a system: air enters low at the soffits and leaves high at the ridge. Exhaust without adequate intake does not move air through the attic - it pulls conditioned air out of the house instead.

Summer: heat and humidity

Virginia summers load attics with heat and moisture. Sustained high attic temperature ages shingles from underneath and raises cooling costs.

Winter: condensation and ice dams
